The Habs have to try and entice the Jets to trade them PLD who is a very good Quebec boy that the Habs have been trying to get for a long time. What would the Habs have to give up to get him? I think it starts with Romanov and another top end piece like Anderson. The Jets don't want or need draft picks, 3rd/ 4th line forwards, bottom pairing d-men, young untested prospects or cap dumps.

Well Dubois made it clear he doesn’t want a long term contract he wants to hit free agency. I believe if this is true he wants a contract that sends him to unrestricted status to sign with Montreal without Montreal having to give anything up for him. Montreal is in rebuild mode. I think they are going in the right direction Bergevin left them in a cap strapped situation. He never should of signed price to the contract he got. Nor should he have signed Gallagher to his last contract or petry, it’s hard for a Canadian team to compete with the salary cap cause Canadian teams hockey players have to pay very high taxes, where certain American teams have players playing and them not being taxed on there income. Montreal players get taxed 55 percent of there salaries and Tampa players are tax exempt. That makes it pretty hard for Montreal to compete with signing free agents. If the province of Quebec did the same they could have the cup come back to Montreal where it belongs. That is why there is a salary cap. So that Canadian teams can’t compete in amd American market. The league needs to change the cap space for Canadian teams to make it far to compete again American teams.
