Now if Dubois signs max 8 year contract they get Montreals 2025 first round pic and Montreal gets winnipegs 2025 third round pic.
I would say if dubois signs it will be between 7 and 8 million a year.

Habs do need him now, afew weeks ago I thought the same, but they aren't in on a long term rebuild they are ready to go all in now they have an amazing prospect pool, they need to shed salary cap Dubois is an upgrade from Dvorak, if dvorak was so great then way did they finish last place. Montreal got Florida first round pick for Ben chariot which they never gave anything up for. Dvorak cost them Carolinas first round pick and a 2024 second round pick. They got Emil in the toffallio trade. Dadonov was in in trade that got rid of webers contract and giving up a 2025 pick is probably only going at best a later first round pick. They would be giving up absolutely nothing on paper to get a centre they have been missing for years. A power forward that is French that is 6 foot 3 200 + pounds. Montreals dysntys was based on big centres fast wingers amd having a roster that had that along with denfensive and offensive style defence man and a goalie that could control the game when it was tight, Ken Dryden and Roy are good examples. In 1993 youth helped win the cup with along with Roy’s amazing goaltending, John leclaire, Gilbert Dionne, Matthieu schiender are good examples of youth, bringing in Kirk muller brian bellows, Vincent dampousse, are good example of veteran leadership they brought in. Montreal has been lacking a French Canadian centre man for almost 30years. The salary cap has ruined Canadian hockey teams. Why wouldn’t you want to pay the price for a guy that wants to wear the ch on his shirt that will probably sign a contract that isn’t insane to play for his home town team. Montreal won championships not just because they had a good team they won because the players wearing the CH wore it proud. They wanted to win. Geoff molson want to win Jeff gorton wants to win the trade I proposed isn’t very much to give up for Dubois. I would think he would be the best person to be Montreals next captain.

They are not trying to win now. That would be ludicrous. The d is barely NHL caibre. Lots of good prospects but they are a couple yrs away. Two years to see if Dach is top six Center. If not he drops to 3rd and we go after Dubois then.

Unless the Habs offer a top line center or better players for PLD they won't get him from the Jets. The Jets would be better off trading him to NYR, Tampa, Florida or the Kings for a much better return. Once he plays for any of these teams he'll forget about playing in Montreal.
