Montreal trade option to contend…
Flames are clearly in a full rebuild , so I would target kadri
Mtl sends :
2025 first round ( Calgary or Florida) , 2025 2nd round ( habs got 3) , 2025 3rd round (habs also have 3) and Owen beck
To flames for :
Kadri ( 3 million retained, so would cost 4million per season for next 5 years until he’s 38yrs old)
Habs get a gritty skilled veteran cup winner center , perfect to center 2nd line for next 2-3yrs , then 3rd line for last 2yr

No need major changes this year as Habs will be in Playoffs and getting better as time goes by. Develop our young players for future .

Look I like Kadri but yoou do not need to give up a 1st, 2nd, a third round pick and Owen Beck to get him.

At most a late 1st (which Mtl does not have) and a prospect (with less upside than Beck) .

Something like a late 1st and Dvorak with no salary retention.

However carrying Kadri's contract until 38 is asking a lot so not really a trade I would make at all.

Why? Kadri 5yrs and $4m. Plus 1,2 3 rd pick and Beck. Is Kadri getting Montreal a Cup?
