EDM needs cap relief and some youth, so here's one option:
EDM:
- Ceci
- Kulak
- 1st (2025)
MTL:
- Harris or Struble
- No retention means EDM gets full relief for the 1 & 2 years remaining on Ceci & Kulak's deal.
- EDM gets a choice of 2 good young D that won't cost too much.
- MTL recycles some D depth and cap space for another 1st rounder next year.
There's a million ways to slice and dice EDM's situation, and help isn't going to be cheap. They're still my cup pick if they can keep Broberg and Holloway?

Habs could maybe make room for one of them, preferably Ceci who has only one year left but no way both and Edmonton doesn't have a 1st in 25.

- LA has Talbot as their starter, and desperately needs help beyond what Rittich can offer.
- Allen can help this year and next, and because the G supply is limited and demand is high, he brings a higher return due to market conditions.

MTL Trade:
- Savard
- NYI only have 2 healthy RD, and Savard is playoff-tested, big, and still has plenty shot-blocking & timely scoring in him to help them this year and next.
- MTL gets a second 1st in each of the coming 3 seasons. I see them packaging some of their extra NHL-ready yound D along with some 1st rounders to get some high-end talent up front. (They have quantity, now it's time to target some quality high-end targets.)
- Martin has been a good soldier for Lou, but he's a throw-in on this deal to make the dollars work.

Not getting a 1st for Savard. A 2nd would be nice, but he might be worth hanging onto and doing a deal next year.

BadHabits99 Savard was traded for a 1st, 3rd and 4th just a couple years ago and is having his best offensive season. He can absolutely get a 1st. He can absolutely get more than that. Especially if retention happens. No one thought monahan would get a first but this is the market. It’s what happens at the TDL.

- MTL increases picks for draft or trade.
- MTL increases available cap space to 7.2M, and encourages all teams in need of deadline cap space to come with offers to dump their garbage for prospects & picks.

- Campbell

- EDM gets two guys who can play now.
- EDM gets depth in net and at forward.
- Gally gets to come home and refocus his game on a true contender.
- EDM gets rid of the Campbell contract AND adds to their team, while keeping their 1st in 2024 for another move if needed.
- MTL does right by Gally, sending him home to a contender, so that he can play meaningful games again.
- MTL & EDM exchange prospects that no one values especially highly, but wouldn't want to lose for nothing.
- MTL scan but out or bury Campbell in the minors, without any of the guilt of doing it to a good soldier like Gally.
- MTL gives some future in Norlinder to secure the 1st, while freeing up prospect space on D.
