Allen to Oilers for Campbell (25% retained), Bourgault, and 1st in 2024 or 2025. Or if no retention by Edmonton, they would need to give up another 1st.

Then Habs can either buy out Campbell this summer or try to dump him to another team (retaining 50% of salary they take on)

All the speculation around Dubois is worrying me. His apparent $9m contract demand is way too high in my opinion - and the Habs shouldn't go all in on him right now. Giving up a comparable player with cost certainty in Dach seems counterproductive; and that's before potentially including a first and Anderson.

I think Hughes should offer the Panthers' first rounder and a throw in like Dvorak or Allen and offer him a deal like Kadri's ($7m per) - if that doesn't get it done, I say stand pat and wait until he hopefully hits free agency.

What do you think?

Dubois $7.840 m per year 7 years Max Max.

I wonder if the Rangers would deal Lafreniere with a cap dump in Goodrow for Anderson (and a throw in, if needed). NYR's first round loss showed they need more grit and speed. Anderson offers both.

Good question.! Lafrenière for me is like Dubois, proceed with caution!

With Bergevin gone, let's start thinking about who will be next GM.

My top candidates would be:

Joel Bouchard
Martin Brodeur
Roberta Luongo
Any Habs alumni not named Patrick Roy
Julien Brisebois would be a pipe dream

With the Habs apparently looking to add Jeff Gorton above the GM, let's start thinking about who will be next GM (preferably before the trade deadline; ideally asap).

I am thinking the best options would be:

Joel Bouchard
Martin Brodeur
Roberta Luongo
Any number of Habs alumni not named Patrick Roy
Brisebois from TB would be a pipe dream

Hmmm, interesting. This would depend on what Habs would need to pay to retain them. Dubois in $7m+ range okay but Hellebuyck would be pushing $9m. That would ruin cap structure.

Point taken, but it seems to me the Flames' D is already set. That means there isn't any spot among top 3 pairs for Kylington.

Dealing Drouin now frees a spot for the young wingers in line for a call-up.

I think Arizona's 3rd overall pick could be in play. Maybe 26th and 33rd picks, Weber's contract plus solid prospect like Mailloux or another D.

Actually, I think the Habs should make a big offer for Coyotes 1st in 2023 (without lottery protection) .

1st overall this year and Weber plus a throw-in like a 2nd rounder for it and salary dump like Bryan Little.

If Habs can get Coyotes to toss in Crouse, I think they should jump at it.

This makes sense to me since Arizona should be the presumptive favourite for 1st in the Conor Bedard draft - and would give us 2 shots at lottery win in 2023 if Hughes and Gorton go with a rebuild.
